eat your words, a collaboration | part one

I have been feeling really giddy the past few weeks and that is because I am beyond excited to share this with everyone.

A couple of months ago, I was hanging out with friend and über talented graphic designer Koyuki Inagaki over a cup of coffee at a mutual friend's cafe. We were just sharing on how much we admire each other's work, which then led us to the lightbulb moment of collaborating. I have known Yuki for close to one year now and even worked on a couple of projects for the same clients (all thanks to her referral!), albeit the difference in our line of work. Hence, the collaboration was really just a matter of time.

'Eat Your Words' is our ode to the food we love to eat combined with our adoration for typography. This series include a variation of 3 'Types'. Accompanying each post is a short and simple recipe of the 'chosen type' so we can all Eat our Words. :-)

To kick off this project, we chose S'mores, inspired by our previous experience of eating them together during a short getaway with some other mutual friends. Enjoy!

S'mores
Serves 4

A packet of digestive biscuits (or graham crackers)
Chocolate Bars of your choice
Medium-sized marshmallows, halved

At home:

1. Preheat oven to 180°C
2. Place two digestives on parchment paper, bottom side up.
3. Break chocolate into small squares and place them evenly onto the middle of one of the digestive biscuits.
4. Place halved marshmallows to each square of chocolate squares.
5. Top marshmallows with squares of chocolate in the middle, careful to not place them near the edges of the biscuits.
6. Place the other digestive on top of the stack.
7. Repeat steps 1-6 to desired amount of S'mores.
8. Then, place the tray in the oven and bake for 5 minutes or patiently wait until chocolate and marshmallows soften.
9. Quickly remove tray from oven, drizzle with chocolate sauce (optional) and enjoy immediately.

Alternatively, roasting over a campfire is always a good idea!
