eat your words, a collaboration | part three

We have reached the third and final part of the 'Eat Your Words' project with über talented Koyuki Inagaki. It was definitely a fun project that got us hooked immediately but sadly, time got away from us as we try to balance work and my leaving the country. That said, the series does not end here. Take our short hiatus like the long tv commercials, always interrupting the best parts of our favourite dubbed soap operas.

'Eat Your Words' is our ode to the food we love to eat combined with our adoration for typography. This series include a variation of 3 'Types'. Accompanying each post is a short and simple recipe of the 'chosen type' so we can all Eat our Words. :-)

For the last (but not least) part of this series, we made Loaf! We wish we were skilled enough to bake one for ourselves but we unfortunately aren't capable just yet. And so, we would like to honour this to all bakers who made it possible for us to have breads and smear them with our favourite confections at home. Miguel once said, ''All sorrows are less with bread.", and we couldn't agree more!

eat your words, a collaboration | part two

Continuing the 'Eat Your Words' project with über talented Koyuki Inagaki is part two: 'Salad'.

As mentioned in our inaugural post,

We kicked off the series with a sinful starter and felt really guilty after that. So we decided to tone down a little and made salad. Salad is such a versatile dish that goes with many different combination of dressings and ingredients, making it easily one of our favourite dishes to make at home. Below are several ideas we love from our favourite websites to spruce up the greens we used to say 'Blaaargh' to 'Yum!'.

1. Classic Cobb Salad - Saveur
2. Beetroot & Orange Salad - Taste.Com.Au

eat your words, a collaboration | part one

I have been feeling really giddy the past few weeks and that is because I am beyond excited to share this with everyone.

A couple of months ago, I was hanging out with friend and über talented graphic designer Koyuki Inagaki over a cup of coffee at a mutual friend's cafe. We were just sharing on how much we admire each other's work, which then led us to the lightbulb moment of collaborating. I have known Yuki for close to one year now and even worked on a couple of projects for the same clients (all thanks to her referral!), albeit the difference in our line of work. Hence, the collaboration was really just a matter of time.

To kick off this project, we chose S'mores, inspired by our previous experience of eating them together during a short getaway with some other mutual friends. Enjoy!

S'mores
Serves 4

A packet of digestive biscuits (or graham crackers)
Chocolate Bars of your choice
Medium-sized marshmallows, halved

At home:

1. Preheat oven to 180°C
2. Place two digestives on parchment paper, bottom side up.
3. Break chocolate into small squares and place them evenly onto the middle of one of the digestive biscuits.
4. Place halved marshmallows to each square of chocolate squares.
5. Top marshmallows with squares of chocolate in the middle, careful to not place them near the edges of the biscuits.
6. Place the other digestive on top of the stack.
7. Repeat steps 1-6 to desired amount of S'mores.
8. Then, place the tray in the oven and bake for 5 minutes or patiently wait until chocolate and marshmallows soften.
9. Quickly remove tray from oven, drizzle with chocolate sauce (optional) and enjoy immediately.

Alternatively, roasting over a campfire is always a good idea!
