Berlin, Berlin... where do I even begin?
A city so diverse, it is not for the faint-hearted.
Upon arriving in Berlin, I was hit by a certain déjà vu... almost as if I'm back home in KL. There was an air of fear and uncertainty, and yet everyone seem to go about their day without caring too much. Is it too soon to judge? Perhaps, like the locals, it takes years to adjust and adapt to the pace of the city?
I went unprepared but how could I? I printed maps, listed places to visit, checked the daily weather forecast, yet, something was missing. I realized then that my lifestyle has changed ever since I moved to Cologne. The people here are much fewer and the trams never full unless there is a delay (which rarely happens). The rhythm of life here is definitely slower as compared to the capital.
In some ways, Berlin stands out as the better city. Language is no barrier as almost everyone is able to speak in English. It is easy to get inspired by the city's involvement in the art and culture scene. The history still very much intact and heavily guarded. Cafes sprouting everywhere with interiors that cannot be imitated. The standard of living seems to be cheaper too.
Maybe, it's the weather. Maybe, four days weren't enough. Maybe, expectations should have been lowered. Maybe.
